Dissertation Prize 2013 of the divisions Gravitation and Relativity, Hadronic and Nuclear Physics and Particle Physics

The divisions Gravitation and Relativity (GR), Hadronic and Nuclear Physics (HK) and Particle Physics (T) of the DPG invite nominations for a dissertation prize to be awarded at the DPG Spring Conference in Dresden in March 2013.

The intention of the prize is to honour outstanding scientific work and its excellent presentation in a lecture.

Outstanding scientific dissertations from the scientific fields covered by the divisions GR, HK and T which were completed in 2011 or 2012 may be nominated.

Nominations may be submitted by the tutor responsible for the dissertation.

Selection procedure: The jury appointed by the divisions involved will select up to four finalists from all the nominations; these finalists will be invited to give a lecture about their work at a dissertation symposium at the Spring Conference in Dresden. After the symposium, the jury will determine the prize winner. All finalists will receive a 500 Euro travel grant to the Spring Conference, the winner will receive 1500 Euro prize money.

The complete nomination includes:

  1. The scientific CV of the nominee including publication lis,.
  2. A statement by the tutor, explaining why the dissertation is scientifically outstanding,
  3. A supporting letter written by a lecturer from a different university,
  4. A copy of the PhD certificate and a copy of the PhD thesis.
