The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the central funding organization for basic research in Germany. As a self-governing organization for science and research it offers a broad spectrum of funding opportunities reaching from small individual grants to big collaborative efforts. At the same time especially for scientists working at the universities there is a growing need to apply for third-party funding. Often for newcomers it is difficult to find the appropriate approach or instrument for their specific ideas or situation. The talk will give an overview about DFG funding possibilities and it will make the decision processes more transparent with the aim to support scientists in their thoughts about their future scientific career.
